Systems Test Engineer

About The Position

If you are passionate about the systems testing of innovative embedded space and military/aerospace (Mil/Aero) hardware designs, we invite you to join the Systems Engineering team here at Aitech. We provide systems test engineering for the design and implementation of subsystems on critical spacecraft and Mil/Aero projects. Our work spans spacecraft and Mil/Aero systems engineering, payload systems integration, electrical systems integration, fault protection and autonomy design, landing systems design, Single Board Computing assembly and test, systems verification and validation, and systems modeling.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Test Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team and report to the System Engineering Manager. Some of your initial tasks may include the development and execution of functional and behavioral tests at sub-systems level and integration of spacecraft and Mil/Aero hardware and software.

Tasks may include but not limited to:

  • Drive the testing and integration of spacecraft and Mil/Aero embedded systems to meet delivery milestones
  • Leading anomaly investigations
  • Contribute to flight software and hardware reviews
  • Define test resource requirements
  • Release test resource engineering drawings per baseline schedules
  • Coordinate test equipment procurement
  • Research and author Activity Plans for the System Testbed
  • Integrate and reconfigure the System Testbed per test procedure requirements
  • Certify Test beds/Test stands
  • Prepare and present Testbed information and data at meetings and reviews
  • Help complete the system level verification of the flight system


Qualifications/Education:

  • Demonstrated skills in test planning, test procedure development, problem reporting/investigation, coordination of test data analysis and test report generation.
  • Demonstrated skills in independently leading test activities and coordinating with other team players.
  • Ability to negotiate independently with other team members on the behalf of Systems Engineering interests.
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary systems engineering or test team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processes that are used to verify/validate the design requirements of systems.
  • Experience in testing of systems, including test planning, test procedure development, and data analysis.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate successfully with other groups, engineering sections, departments, and organizations, both inside and outside Aitech.
  • Experience with development of formal procedures and documentation relating to space flight and Mil/Aero hardware
  • Ability to react to frequent changes in plans and excel in a rapid pace concurrent engineering environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies and procedures, and government regulations across a range of applications.
  • Understanding of the proper application of Aitech design principles, flight project practices, hardware-handling constraints, and the design risk management practices.
  • Availability for occasional domestic travel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience, or Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience, or Ph.D with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in Systems Integration and Test
