About The Position
Director of Engineering
Salary range: $180K- $240K DOE
Aitech creates innovative rugged embedded solutions for civil, commercial, and national security customers to secure a better tomorrow on land, in the sea, in the air, and in space. We are looking for an on-site Director of Engineering (DoE) to provide strong leadership for technical execution of the Aitech Defense Systems, Inc. (ADSI) Engineering Departments. We are on an exciting growth trajectory and there are tremendous opportunities to make significant impact on our engineering teams, programs execution, site financials, and future path.
The DoE will lead departments across the major engineering disciplines of Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (including structural and thermal), Software Engineering, Embedded Software, Test Engineering, IPT Leads, and Chief Engineers to accomplish the following:
Department Leadership
a. Plan and directs all aspects of engineering and R&D policies, objectives, and initiatives
b. Build technical strategies that enable scaling of business
c. Develop and manage department budget
d. Be a champion for positive change
e. Empower teams and foster accountability throughout entire organization
f. Effective and concise 2-way communicator with experience in executive presentations (effective messaging)
Program / IRAD Execution
a. Ensure timely completion and technical integrity of team’s assignments
b. Implement effective system for assessing technical progress of work product for IPT Leads
c. Ownership for technical content of program Risk Register (including mitigation strategy)
d. Experienced with working recovery of complex and difficult programs
Personnel Development
a. Collaborate with PMO to forecast staffing projections
b. Drive effective succession plans and ensure active career progression
d. Develop and implement training curriculum
e. Support recruiting of technical personnel
f. Experienced with attracting and retaining top talent
g. Experienced with systematic approach to performance assessment
Process Monitoring
a. Document / manage technical design and development processes, adapting industry best practices
b. Chair Process Change Control Board for engineering processes
c. Advocate for continuous improvements
Technical
a. Experience across product development lifecycle from concept to flight operations
b. Extensive experience with gate reviews and peer reviews
c. Drive technical root cause investigations, corrective actions, and preventive measures in Failure and Problem Report Tracking
d. Establish key technical metrics for evaluating progress for predictable and repeatable performance
e. Develop sound proposal basis of estimates (scope, schedule, budgets), technical approach, and technical write-ups with consideration for resource constraints associated risks (i.e. identified, assessed, and appropriately responded to)
f. Publish “White Papers” and Technical Articles
Stakeholders
a. Strong collaborate with and technical support for the Directors of PMO, Operations, Quality, Business Development and other ADSI management teams

Requirements
Requirements:
- 18+ years in Engineering (BS + 18 years, MS + 16+ years, or PhD + 13+ years)
- 5+ years in Senior Management (or equivalent with related experience) with organization of 30+ employees
- 10+ years recent experience with Aerospace applications is required
- Extensive expertise in two or more technical disciplines like Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Embedded Software, and/or Test Engineering
- Knowledge of Circuit Board Design and the associated analyses is a plus
- Experience with design and analysis for Mil/Aero applications is a plus
- Previous experience on NASA programs and Mil/Aero markets is a plus
Education:
B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or other relevant field is required
Project Management certification is a plus
