Chatsworth, Calif. Febuary 2021 – Aitech, a leading provider of rugged board and system level solutions for military, aerospace and space applications, has hit the two-decade mark as a member of open standards trade association VITA.

VITA’s mission focuses on promoting the concept of open technology for critical embedded computing as embodied in the many standards developed or under development within VITA. It governs both the VME and VPX specifications

“The long-standing commitment to developing open standards from companies like Aitech has enabled the embedded computing ecosystem to grow, while helping system architectures evolve to meet current and future system needs,” noted Jerry Gipper, Executive Director for VITA.

Aitech’s contributions to the VITA community include shipping the first 6U x 160mm full Mil VME board to US TACOM for the SAVA program in 1986 as well as delivering 68020-based SBC prototypes for ISS Express Rack program in 1990. Aitech representatives have also held board positions over the years to further assist in the development of the open standards community. Since then, as a continuing member of VITA, Aitech applies its decades of experience working with open standards and modular architectures to the advancement of VITA’s initiatives.

Pratish Shah, General Manager USA of Aitech, noted, “Our heritage is a strength we draw upon to continue advancing open systems architectures across military and defense applications. With our years of involvement working under the VITA banner, we’re excited to bring that experience and knowledge to modern systems that are focusing on better interoperability, enhanced reliability and more robust embedded computing solutions.”

The company seeks to provide its customers with a well-rounded, full suite of both hardware and software solutions for use in today and tomorrow’s military, defense and aerospace programs. To accomplish that goal, Aitech is also involved in complementary industry organizations such as The Open Group’s Future Airborne Capability Environment™ (FACE™) and Sensor Open Systems Architecture™ (SOSA™) Consortia.

Aitech continues to invest in next generation single board computers (SBCs), GPGPU products, graphics XMCs, communication and I/O cards, Ethernet switches and power supplies as well as system level products and software solutions to provide its customers with a large selection of open-standard architectures for rugged applications. The company offers more than 37 years of extensive expertise in designing and manufacturing cutting-edge open standards and custom defense and space electronics solutions.
